Why Plant in the Mid-Season or Shoulder Season Garden + Rare Vegetable Haul

Growing in the mid-season will allow you to utilize space that may not be used and ensure higher production of food crops. In this episode, you will learn some of the reasons why you may want to grow in the shoulder season and where you can grow in the shoulder season. You will also learn how to discover if it is worth it to plant in your shoulder season based on your first frost date and how to determine the best crops to grow before its too late. Family's Modern Shipping Container Home in Downtown Toronto Video.
Family's Modern Shipping Container Home in Downtown Toronto
The Black Star is Toronto's first shipping container home, designed and built by Carl and Ana. It's a hybrid structure with three used shipping containers forming one half of the house, and the other half is a conventional build, but it's floating above the restaurant that the couple own, using pillars to support it. Woman’s Low Cost Living in a Renovated Camper Trailer
After moving nearly a dozen times in 5 years, Arielle wanted a place to call her own. Now she is experimenting with alternative housing options and has started by buying and living in a renovated camper trailer. She invested $6,000 CAD to buy the RV and says it will be paid for in 2 seasons (the equivalent of paying $900/month on rent). She can then choose to try and make it through the winter in the trailer, or she can house sit, rent a room, or stay with friends during the colder months. You can follow Arielle on Instagram here: https://ift.tt/2YPZHiv The interesting thing about investing some money into a trailer like this versus paying rent is that she can eventually sell the trailer and re-invest that money into a different housing option, and it will allow her to save money while she's living this low-cost lifestyle. Arielle says that saving money was not the main reason she bought the trailer, but it is a nice benefit. She really wanted to own her own space, and to live outside the city. She asked around to find out if anyone would be willing to let her park the camper on their property and found an older woman living on an inactive farm who doesn't mind having her parked at the back of the property. Arielle pays $200/month to contribute to the hydro bill and to cover the cost of her staying there. She gets electricity from an extension cord for lights and A/C, she uses propane for her stove and a small heater, and she brings in 5-gallon jugs of water for drinking and washing dishes. She can shower at work, or at the gym, and she has a dry toilet in the RV that separates liquids and solids. Living in a trailer is not a new idea, but we still thought it was interesting to meet Arielle and find out why she decided to try an alternative housing option, how much it cost, what the pros and cons were, and where she found a space to park her RV. Learn more with my free four-part Masterclass series, here: https://ift.tt/320h1zf Question: After researching the safety of compost tea, food cultivation, and food safety, in general, I read a study from the UCONN college of agriculture where they sound the alarm on mulch piles, compost (both plant and manure-based) and compost tea applications noting that pathogens grow rampant in organic mulch piles. I began this research after watching countless videos of folks spraying on compost tea and later picking fruit and eating it straight off the tree without washing. I caught myself thinking "wait, am I going to kill myself doing that?". How can we be sure we are not creating a biological war zone in our mulch and compost piles and that we will not get sick by using such sprays, teas, and mulches?
